Indian army is a formidable force of dedicated soldiers with impeccable professionalism and an adorable human touch. The military professionalism of Indian army has been amply exhibited in guarding of the nation’s borders under demanding conditions and tough terrains. Be it the scorching heat touching +50 degrees in deserts or the freezing -50 degrees in the world’s highest battle field, the excellence of Indian army has been exemplary.

Then there is the human side of their professionalism. In complete corroboration with Indian democracy where equality of all citizens irrespective of creed or region is guaranteed by the constitution, the Indian army has stood as a champion of human rights and social service. Both in war and peace the professionalism of Indian army has stood the test of highest standards.

This is something unique to this army. One would wonder how a soldier can imbibe in him the killer instinct and the soft human touch at the same levels at the same time. For this one has to see it firsthand the grooming of the Indian army soldier.

In this endeavour I happened to spend an evening with young army officers where their multifaceted talent was at display. After watching their performance in art and physical endurance there remains no doubt about the positivism of Indian soldier. The grooming of the soldier is in complete consonance with the highest ideals of the Indian State.

The performance I witnessed ranged from classical, instrumental, western, and traditional tolerant culture of India visible in the Sufi spirit.
